Note - Israel's broadcasting service IBA, the organiser as well as winner of the previous year's contest in Jerusalem, chose not to exert its right to organise a second edition of the festival in a row, while also withdrawing its participation in the 1980 contest, assigned to Dutch broadcaster NOS. Nonetheless, IBA held a song competition, though never with the intention of sending the winner abroad. The winning entry of Israel's selection is given below as a withdrawn entry

Norway's conductor Sigurd Jansen flanked by the duo representing the Nordic country in The Hague, Mattis Hætta (left) and Sverre Kjelsberg. Note that Mr Jansen is holding the sheet music of the Spanish entry ‘Quédate esta noche’ instead of the Norwegian song’s score!
