BIOGRAPHY

Anacreon Papageorgiou (Ανακρέων Παπαγεωργίου) is a guitarist, arranger, and conductor who has mainly worked in the world of theatre. In 1996-97, he conducted the production Vira tis ankures in the Municipal Theatre in Athens. He also wrote songs for Costoula Mitropoulou.

Various sources confirm that Anacreon Papageorgiou passed away some time between 2000 and 2010, but further information is lacking.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

Papageorgiou was the arranger and conductor of the 1997 Greek Eurovision entry ‘Horepse’, a heavily ethnically influenced song performed by Marianna Zorba. The song was performed completely live, with the orchestra backing up a set of musicians from Greece playing their instruments on stage behind the singer.
