BIOGRAPHY

Alexander Kirov Zografov is a cosmopolitan conductor who lived and worked in Bulgaria, Canada, and Cyprus. He studied conducting at the Milton Barnes School in Toronto. In the early 1990s, he was employed in Cyprus for the Diastasis Cultural Association. He composed music for TV documentaries, films, and worked in the recording studio with many artists, including German jazz musician Fritz Brause. After living in Canada for two decades, he moved back to Europe around 2020, settling in Greece.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

Alexander Kirov Zografov orchestrated and conducted the Cypriot entry in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest, ‘S.O.S.’, performed by Elena Patroclou. This song, calling on the world to take better care of the environment, was composed and by Cypros Charalambous with lyrics by Andreas Christou; Charalambous also wrote the studio arrangement, working with synthetic instruments. This Cypriot entry finished in a respectable 9th place.
