BIOGRAPHY
Costas Cacogiannis (Κώστας Κακογιάννης), the son of famous film director Michael Cacogiannis, studied electrical engineering as well as the piano, violin, flute, and music teaching; upon graduation in Cyprus, he was given the opportunity to perfect his skills as a musician in the United States, where he attended classes in music theory and composition at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY. He wrote ballet scores, film soundtracks, and music for American television programmes. Between 1994 and 1998, he was the musical director of the Diastasis Cultural Association, Limassol; in this capacity, he worked on stage or in the recording studio with the likes of Nana Mouskouri, George Dalaras, Alexia, and Georges Moustaki. With Johnny Logan, Cacogiannis recorded a Christmas album. In 2007, with poet Pambos Kouzalis, he founded the non-profit cultural organisation Paracentro, based in Lemythou in the Troodhos Mountains. For the 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Nicosia, Cacogiannis composed the piece ‘Hand in Hand’, which was sung by all competing children at the end of the show.

Costas Cacogiannis was the arranger and conductor of the Cypriot entry to the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham, ‘Genesis’, composed and performed by Michael Chadzigiannis. This song finished eleventh.
