BIOGRAPHY

Pianist, composer, arranger, and conductor Hervé Roy studied harmony, counterpoint, and fugue at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. From 1966 onwards, he worked in the recording studios penning arrangements for artists like Johnny Hallyday, Françoise Hardy, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Michel Sardou, Enrico Macias, and Gilbert Bécaud. He wrote film scores as well, most famously that of Emmanuelle in 1974. Between 1994 and 2004, he conducted the orchestra during live performances of Charles Aznavour.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

Hervé Roy conducted the Eurovision orchestra on three occasions for three different countries, in 1969 (‘Maman, maman’ by Jean-Jacques for Monaco, 6th place), 1973 (‘Je vais me marier, Marie’ by Patrick Juvet for Switzerland, 12th place), and 1979 (‘J’ai déjà vu ça dans tes yeux’ by Jeane Manson for Luxembourg, 13th place). All three songs were arranged by him.
