BIOGRAPHY

Antoni ‘Toni’ Xuclà is an autodidact jazz guitarist who released several solo albums since the late 1970s and has his own group, Menaix a Truà. Between 1980 and 1992, he mainly worked as a composer for film, television, and theatre. In 1992, he conducted a string orchestra during a stage show in celebration of arrival of the Olympic torch in Barcelona. 

Xuclà also arranged and produced recordings for many Catalan and Spanish artists, including Carlos Barranco, Ovidi Montllor, Marina Rossell, Marcos Llunas, Josep Tero, and Maria Salgado. He was a teacher at the Barcelona Music Academy.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

With Xavier Ibañez, Toni Xuclà penned the arrangement to Spain’s entry in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, Marcos Llunas’ ‘Sin rencor’. It was Xuclà who conducted the orchestra in the live broadcast in Dublin. Llunas finished 6th in a field of 25 contestants.
